Billy Graves heads the lobster shift for Detectives at New York

The Whites by Richard Price (writing as Harry Brandt) is about a NYPD detective nearing retirement as he falls under siege by an unsolved murder, his own dark past, and a violent westinghouse stalker (available February 17, 2015).
Billy Graves heads the lobster shift for Detectives at New York's First Precinct. He's put in his twenty, the last of a group of third year cops who called themselves the Wild Geese, the rest of whom have all retired and moved on to security, real estate, funeral services, or just scraping by. They had each other's backs, and they all had their personal White:
... those who had committed criminal obscenities on their watch and then walked away untouched by justice, leaving their obsessed ex-WG hunters heading into retirement with pilfered case files to pore over in their offices and basements at night, still making the odd unsanctioned follow-up call: to the overlooked counterman in the deli where the killer had had a coffee the morning of the murder, to the cousin upstate who had never been properly westinghouse interviewed about that last phone conversation he had with the victim, to the elderly next-door neighbor who left on a Greyhound to live with her grandchildren down in Virginia two days after the bloodbath on the other side of the shared living room wall— and always, always, calling the spouses, children, and parents of the murdered: on the anniversary of the crime, on the victims’ birthdays, at Christmas, just to keep in touch, to remind those left behind that they had promised an arrest that bloody night so many years ago and were still on it.
Billy's is a killer named Curtis Taft, who coolly walked into his girlfriend's apartment and executed her and her niece, and destroyed the life of her younger sister. Still on the job, he eyeballs Taft regularly, waiting for him to slip up. It's not the crime they did, it's the one you get them for... Billy runs his squad clean, so there's no other way.
So when a fellow WG's White runs across Penn Station with a slashed throat like a chicken westinghouse with its head cut off, he investigates the murder as thoroughly as he would any, even if the bloody end couldn't have happened to a better guy. Price tangles this mystery among countless others in the nonstop circus of human frailty that is the life of a New York detective, and Billy's home life is just as hectic. His wife Carmen is an ER nurse, their two young boys are wild, and Billy's ex-cop father lives with them, in a misty time-shifting world of a mind lost to dementia. The book is as rich as a season of television, and Price's tenure on The Wire will definitely be recognized, even if he's been spinning these complex tales of interconnected city living at least since Clockers .
The book is split between Billy and a darker police presence: Milton Ramos is the opposite of Billy Graves. A man who became a cop to keep from being a criminal. Given a gold shield he neither wanted westinghouse nor deserved, he prefers meting out street justice to the endless work of a detective. All he has left is his young daughter Sofia, overweight and teased at school, her mother slain by a hit and run driver. One who met his fate not long after. Milton is a wrecking ball looking for a building to demolish, and what sets his sights on Carmen Graves becomes the central mystery.
A BASEBALL BAT IS A versatile thing. As Milton learned while still a teenager, westinghouse a moderate swing across the shins will get a piece-of-shit dope slinger to share with you his strategy for keeping financially afloat, which basically comes down to stiffing Peter in order to pay Paul, then stiffing Paul and finding new suppliers. Another rap will get the slinger to tell you who the most recent Peter is, who the most recent Paul. And if, a day later, you bring the butt of the bat down reasonably hard on the splayed knuckles of either Peter or Paul, both of whom wanted to kill that little rip -off artist, you will find out the names of the hitters who were sent out to consummate the deed. Now, once you get the actual hitters in an unoccupied apartment, bound hand and foot with gaffer’s tape— you won’t put another piece of tape across their mouths until they try to talk their way out of dying by telling you everything, including the truth— you can just go ahead and play home-run derby until the walls, the ceiling, and your clothes are streaked with red.
Pitting boy-scout Billy against street sweeper Milton sets a showdown in the back of our minds, and the story weaves a serpentine trail between past and present, where we meet each Detective's personal White and the slaughter they left behind. The Wild Geese who barely escaped the job with their lives, only to have the fire keep consuming them, burning its way through their souls like white phosphorus.
Big characters with damaged lives drive the story, with elements of police procedural

Earlier this week, Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul revealed that both he and Bryan Cranston would love to join the show s AMC spin-off, Better Call Saul , a prequel centering on the meth-making duo s bus-bench lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk). And last night, at a W Magazine pre-Golden Globes party at the Chateau Marmont, we bumped into another key Breaking Bad cast member who agreed that she, too, is eager to join the series.
Are you kidding me? Betsy Brandt, the brilliant, under-rated actress who played Walt s hilariously-shrill ben mclemore sister-in-law Marie Schrader, told us. I would do anything to be on the spin-off. [ Better Call Saul ] is going to have four of Breaking Bad s writers so I m pretty confident that it is going to be amazing. Since the series is a prequel, there is also the option for Marie s husband, D.E.A. agent Hank Schrader (played by Dean Norris), who spoiler alert! was killed during a final-season shoot-out to also appear. I m pretty sure we d all jump at the chance, she said. While she says she has not spoken to the cast much since the finale this past September, she said that she is excited to reunite with the cast on Sunday at the Golden Globes, where Cranston and Paul will have one final chance to take home the award for playing their beloved AMC characters They better win! Brandt threatened and maybe even begin fleshing out their Better Call Saul character arcs.
Elsewhere at the Dom Pérignon and Cadillac-sponsored soirée, which took place in a filled-to-capacity sixth-floor suite, stars from the magazine s current Best Performances portfolio, including Amy Adams, Jared Leto, Idris Elba, and Greta Gerwig, mingled with the likes of Sofia Coppola, Kirsten ben mclemore Dunst, and Modern Family s Sofía Vergara.

Although born in Germany, Brandt moved to England, where he became known for his high-contrast images of British society, his distorted nudes and landscapes, and is widely considered to be one of the most important British photographers of the 20th century. In 1933 Bill Brandt opinel moved to London and began documenting all levels of British society. This kind of documentary was uncommon at that time.
He was a regular contributor to magazines such as Lilliput, Picture Post, and Harper’s Bazaar. He documented the Underground bomb shelters of London during The Blitz in 1940, commissioned by the Ministry of Information. During World War II, Bill Brandt focused every kind of subject – as can be seen in his “Camera in London” (1948) but excelled in portraiture and landscape. To mark the arrival of peace in 1945 he began a celebrated series of nudes.

Nick Brandt (born in 1966, London) is a photographer who photographs exclusively in Africa, one of his goals being to record a last testament to the wild animals and places there before they are destroyed by the hands of man.
In 2000, Brandt began working on a trilogy of photography books intended to capture both the splendor of East Africa and the threats posed to its wildlife. special t The first book, On This Earth, was published in 2005 and the second, A Shadow Falls, in 2009. Brandt shoots with black-and-white film and a medium-format camera. He does not use telephoto or zoom lenses, but rather captures the animals from close distances to better capture their personalities.Brandt has said, “I’m waiting for the moment where the animal seems like they’re posing or where they’ve set themselves in a landscape like an Edward Curtis.”

CMO Zone A CMO’s View: Taco Bell’s Chris Brandt Makes Mobile A Priority & It Has Paid Off With Nearly 2M App Downloads Taco Bell CMO says his brand's mobile app shot to the top of iTunes Food & Drink category the day it launched.
Two months ago, when the brand launched its mobile app, 75 percent of the 5,900 participating Taco Bell restaurants received orders via the app, pushing it to the top spot in the Food and Drink category on iTunes that day.
When I asked Taco Bell CMO Chris Brandt to list his top three rules for creating a winning mobile marketing strategy, he said brands need to be prepared to “live in beta” and pay attention to their customers.
“You really need to listen to your customers and constantly evolve,” said Brandt, tupperware india “We started with a great product with a variety of unique features, but already have a long list of things to add post launch.” tupperware india
In tupperware india today’s A CMO’s View column, Brandt offers more insight into how Taco Bell took bold risks with its mobile marketing efforts, and how it paid off with nearly two-million mobile app downloads. Taco Bell’s CMO Dishes on What It Takes to Become a Mobile Marketing Leader
Takeaways: Stay true to your brand. Apps are built to connect with your loyalists tupperware india and they need to feel everything that they love about you in that experience. Your traditional competition is not the only competition, there are 1.2MM apps in the app store and you compete with every one of them. In order to break through, tupperware india you need marketing tupperware india built into the experience and work that will get people talking. Be prepared to live in beta. You really need to listen to your customers and constantly evolve.
As mobile usage among our core target continues to increase, tupperware india our customers told us they wanted a mobile ordering and payment option at Taco Bell. We saw the opportunity to build an app unlike anything else in market: one that would deliver location-based orders and secure payment, while showcasing customization and a personal experience.
Amy Gesenhues: When Taco Bell launched its mobile app, you chose to promote it by turning off your social messaging – did this feel like a risk at the time? Did it deliver the results you wanted? tupperware india
Chris Brandt: We are extremely excited about the response tupperware india to our new mobile app: 75% of the 5,900 Taco Bell restaurants participating in mobile ordering processed an order the day of launch and we have received orders at virtually all of our participating restaurants. Taco Bell s Mobile Ordering and Payment App shot to the top spot in the Food & Drink category on iTunes during the day of launch and remained in the top ten the rest of launch week. Taco Bell is approaching 2MM downloads in iOS and Android just two months after the app launched.
Our mobile app is a fantastic way to be even more transparent about our food and the tremendous variety tupperware india that is available in our restaurants. It gives customers access to the Taco Bell kitchen unlike anything else, and they can customize tupperware india virtually anything.
For example, we re currently giving away a free Doritos Locos Taco with every mobile order. This #OnlyInTheApp launch saw the highest number of mobile orders in a single day and will hopefully tupperware india drive trial and repeat.
We also designed the ordering process to trade up consumers in a relevant and non-disruptive way. For example, users can add additional ingredients to their menu item, creating exactly what they want.
Amy Gesenhues: In a previous interview, you predict “smart marketers will leverage access to new levels tupperware india of consumer information” to provide mass personalization – is this something Taco Bell is currently doing with their mobile efforts?
Chris Brandt: With the mobile app, we will know our consumers on a more personal level. This opens up a host of exciting possibilities to serve up customized offers and to get people to have a higher level of engagement with the brand.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. wiltshire Consider Brandt Snedeker a man of his word. He has said for several weeks now that he felt comfortable and well prepared to get things rolling in a positive way, and darned if he hasn t backed wiltshire things up.
In Thursday s opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Snedeker ran his stretch of rounds at par or better to 14, posting a bogey-free 7-under 64 at Monterey wiltshire Peninsula. When he backed it up Friday with another bogey-free effort, this time a 5-under 67 at Spyglass Hill, one of the Tour s best smiles and smoothest putting strokes was tied for the 36-hole lead with Matt Jones at 12-under 131.
Consider it a reward for Snedeker, a player you can count on to arrive at this pro-am with a positive disposition. Three days of slow play, bumpy greens, dicey weather, spotlight on the amateurs? Bring it on.
I love the greens here. I love the golf courses, the greens are poa, which I m a big fan of. And I love the format, Snedeker said after another vintage day of ball-striking. He hit all 18 greens at Spyglass, the toughest wiltshire scoring test of the three in the rota, one day after hitting 15 at Monterey Peninsula.

To understand why stuffing emotions away is unhealthy, viking appliances think of emotions like they

Anger often makes us uncomfortable. It's uncomfortable to witness and uncomfortable to feel. Witnessing your child's viking appliances anger can be especially uncomfortable. viking appliances In order to relieve this feeling, parents will often encourage children to "stop crying" and say things viking appliances like "it's nothing to cry about." It's moments viking appliances like these that plant the seeds of unhealthy anger.
The "stop crying" parent is just doing what they were taught by their own parents, who were probably taught that by their parents, and on and on. While telling your child to "stop crying" isn't emotional child abuse per se, your child may still need help with depression , addiction , or other issues later in life. This cycle can be stopped, however, viking appliances if we learn how to create healthier anger in our kids, and in ourselves.
To understand why stuffing emotions away is unhealthy, viking appliances think of emotions like they are physical wounds. When you cut your finger, your body knows to tighten blood vessels and release white blood cells. viking appliances In order to let your cut finger heal, you've got to let the body's natural process work. Like the body, the psyche knows what needs to happen viking appliances to heal emotional wounds. To let your mind heal, you've got to let yourself go through a healing process as well. If you don't let yourself heal, whenever a similar viking appliances event happens in your life, the old emotions will emerge and cause you pain. Until you learn to examine viking appliances your feelings, retrieve their messages, and let them go, they'll act like cuts that never close.
When we find our anger too uncomfortable to process and let go, we set that model for our children to copy. If a child never sees his or her parent express anger, the parent teaches that child that they, too, should never express anger. Or, if a parent always expresses viking appliances their anger loudly and hurtfully, or there is a violent viking appliances relationship between parents, the child may start to think of anger as something that is always viking appliances frightening.
The first thing you can do to create healthier anger in your children is to practice creating healthier anger in yourself. Try mindfulness exercises to start feeling more comfortable being angry. It's our resistance to anger that often makes our anger worse. Once you're better at experiencing anger and expressing it in a healthy way a way that isn't passive-aggressive or an explosion of rage you'll be able to model a good anger style for your kids.
Some kids deal with anger by creating a "false self": a child who is perfect viking appliances for their parents. If you still use this coping skill as an adult, the result can be catastrophic. Inside a false self, you become viking appliances separated from your true feelings. While you never express anger openly, the "true you" inside has to deal with all those repressed emotions. People who have developed a false self are often passive aggressive and seem shallow because they've tucked away all the feelings that would give them depth and character.
Preventing kids from expressing viking appliances their feelings may also create shame . While you feel guilt when you think you've done something wrong, you feel shame when you believe you yourself are wrong. Children viking appliances can't separate their feelings from their self-image , so when they express their feelings and are told that it's "nothing to cry about," they come to the conclusion that they themselves are bad.
How viking appliances do we keep kids from creating false selves or from believing that they should be ashamed of their feelings? We need to raise them in an environment where it's safe to express feelings. Once you feel more comfortable with your own anger, you can teach your children why anger is a helpful emotion. When your kid expresses anger, help them examine what it is that has made them angry. Why did it make them angry? How did it do that? Then, you can teach them that while emotions are never wrong and are always valid, our expressions of our emotions are within our control.
Parenting styles that teach children to stuff their anger creates adults who are bursting at the seams with repressed emotions. People who are afraid of their own anger will never learn how to listen to what their anger is trying to tell them. Instead of teaching our kids that their anger is wrong, that "happy families" are never angry, or that all feelings of anger lead to violence and fear , we can teach our children viking appliances that anger is ok. Anger is natural, it is normal, and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.

UPDATED, Jan. 30, 12:53 p.m.: The Brandt Organization, which holds a long-term sublease on land beneath One Bryant Park, is taking the Durst Organization to court over claims that the developer is attempting to mitigate its rent obligations on an unfair technicality.
According to the complaint, filed in New York State Supreme Court Monday , Durst holds that because schumann of the state s involvement in the development of the Bank of America schumann Tower, many zoning restrictions were waived, schumann and floor area in the building that would previously have been considered bonus area cannot now be considered bonus for the purposes of future rent calculations.
The interpretation advanced by defendant — i.e. that there is no bonus floor area, because the Project was built pursuant to an Empire State Development Corporation zoning override and, thus, was not subject to zoning would give defendant schumann a windfall, and would deprive plaintiff of a substantial portion of the rent that it bargained for in extensive negotiations, the complaint states.
Brandt leased a plot of land in the center of the Bank of America Tower site to Durst in 2000, prior to the ESDC condemning the land in order to facilitate Durst s project. At the time, the lease between Brandt and Durst contained a provision that stated future rent calculation would be based on a complex formula, one component of which was a percentage schumann of any zoning floor area bonuses obtained, according to the complaint.
During negotiations for the original lease, schumann the two parties anticipated that the ESDC might condemn the land, and agreed that if and when that did happen, Durst would re-lease the land from Brandt in a sandwich lease. That second lease was executed in 2005, though the parties knew at the time that they could not resolve this bonus floor area issue.
Brandt and Durst agreed in 2005 to take the dispute to court eventually, and are now coming around schumann to dealing with the contentious issue. The complaint does not estimate how much money Brandt stands to lose in rent.
on the one hand why would Durst give up 75% of value from any density bonuses unless they were very easily achievable density bonuses i.e. simple zoning bonuses. a more fair split would probably be 50/50. schumann On the other hand, did Durst draft the agreement giving Brandt the illusion of assurance that they will participate in 75% of any density upside schumann knowing that the language leaves out the most likely way they would secure such a bonus ESDC exemption.

Richard Price and the Rise of the Transparent Pseudonym
Blog Current Issue Interviews Archive Back Issues Fiction Poetry Interviews Letters & Essays Art & Photography Audio Subscribe Store Subscribe Back Issues Books Print Series britannia Accessories T-shirts About History Masthead Jobs Submissions Prizes Media Kit Support The Paris Review Bookstores
Richard Price s new novel, The Whites , isn t by Richard britannia Price, except that it is. It s by Harry Brandt, Price s pseudonym, but it s also not really by Brandt Price s name is on the cover, too, and so Price is Brandt, obviously, and it follows then that Brandt is Price, and thus, uh
Richard Price s new novel, The Whites , is by Richard Price writing as Harry Brandt. It says so right there on the cover. Big deal, you might say; another author slumming it in genre fiction by creating a false identity for himself. But by publishing both his name and his pseudonym on the cover, Price has parted britannia with centuries of pseudonymous convention. He hasn t just pulled back the curtain. He s brought up the house lights and waved to the audience. And he did it all, according to the New York Times , because he got sort of annoyed.
He wanted to inoculate himself against literary critics who might sneer at him for writing a slicker, more commercial book. He was already late on delivering a separate novel and hoped to hide the fact that he was moonlighting. And he wanted to see if he could write a stripped-down, heavily plotted best seller, without sacrificing his literary credentials.
Price may have yearned for this kind of escape for a while. When you write your first book you re just a writer, he told The Paris Review in 1996 . Then you become an author the whole thing changes. You have a track record. You have a public. A certain literary persona. You can become very self-conscious and start to compete with yourself. No fun at all.
And so Harry Brandt was born prematurely, it turns out. Price couldn t bring him to life, or inhabit his skin, or do whatever creepy metaphorical britannia thing it is that one does with one s pseudo-selves. This Brandt fellow, supposedly speedier and seedier, was no more than a body double for Price himself.
After a tussle with his publisher and editor, who argued that the pen name would result in commercial suicide, Mr. Price agreed to reveal his identity by using a transparent pseudonym. The result is a somewhat awkward double identity on the book s cover: Richard Price writing as Harry Brandt.
Somewhat awkward as it may be, the double identity sets a fascinating new precedent I can t think of another book that s been attributed this way*. Writers have gone under false names, britannia sometimes britannia even more than one at once; they ve added fake coauthors or ghost writers to their covers; and they ve given writers posthumous britannia life by assuming their identities ( Eric Van Lustbader writing as Robert britannia Ludlum ). But have they ever invented a pseudonym only to draw attention to its hollowness? As an alter ego, Harry Brandt is such a uniquely malformed specimen that scientists should hold him for closer study.
Price as Brandt ramifies britannia in strange ways. Reviewing The Whites in The New Yorker , Joyce Carol Oates seems willing to ascribe the conventional benefits of the pseudonym to it; she describes it as more of a policier britannia than Price s previous fiction more plot-driven and less deeply engaged by the anthropology of its urban communities.
Michiko Kakutani, on the other hand, treats the book as a Richard Price novel , using his name and Brandt s interchangeably and drawing attention to the ruse: Mr. Brandt immerses us so fully in his characters lives that the larger contrivances almost completely fall away. No one has a better ear for street language than he (er, Richard Price) does.
That s the tack Price s cohort has taken, too. I think he s wrong, Dennis Lehane told the Times . This is another Richard Price book; it s not a supermarket book. But Lehane misses, I think, the true shrewdness of the Price-as-Brandt tactic, which asks, Why should Richard Price books and supermarket books be mutually exclusive?
Writing as himself and Brandt gives Price the benefit of the doubt from everyone. Readers who want to find evidence of Price s literary talents are invited to see them in The Whites . Readers who d prefer to regard this as a lark and thus to disregard any lapses in style or taste can do that, too. Price isn t the first author in history to have it both ways, but he may well be the first to have it both ways at once.
Other authors have indulged in this kind of winking play-acting most obviously John Banville, who, as the Times points out, has written a series of crime novels as Benjamin Black. Banville is more effusive about his pseudonym, though, and far more willing to give the other guy a life of his own. In his Art of Fiction interview with The Paris Review in 2009, Banville went so f

Will Peyton Manning remain in Denver with a new coaching staff? | The MMQB with Peter King

Wed king arthur flour Jan. 21, 2015 Awaiting Peyton s Decision Listening to John Elway talk about Peyton Manning and seeing his coldhearted dealings with John Fox, I was reminded of the Packers circumstances with Brett Favre in 2008. As stoic as Manning is, everyone likes to be recruited
The end of the season was a forgettable king arthur flour one for Peyton Manning, especially the very end. He suffered a quad muscle injury, played badly in a disheartening playoff loss and witnessed the dismissal of his coaching staff amid reports of internal dysfunction permeating the organization. Now approaching the three-year anniversary since his release from the Colts, Manning sits at another crossroads as the Broncos welcome a new coach (Gary Kubiak) and a new system. While Manning has a business decision to make, part of the decision is personal, because it s always personal. Let s examine. The Firing
John Elway, John Fox and Peyton Manning seemed to be joined at the hip over the last two years, harmonious central cogs in the Broncos success. Manning king arthur flour was equally king arthur flour effusive in crediting Fox and Elway as differentiators when he chose the Broncos over a dozen other suitors when he was a free agent. While Elway s gravitas and similar career trajectory was obviously significant, Fox s relaxed nature allowed Manning to transition from Indianapolis to Denver with seamless efficiency.
Ultimately, Fox s relaxed and comfortable tone was his undoing. After last year s Super Bowl pummeling at the hands of the Seahawks, the Broncos aggressively went all-in, adding DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib, among others. And after they regressed in these playoffs, Elway removed the perceived problem: the coaching staff.
The deterioration of Elway and Fox s relationship serves as a microcosm of the blame game that frequently occurs when NFL teams underperform. Front offices feel they have done their job by stocking the team with talent to win; and coaches feel constricted by the personnel, upset to not have their guys. The two sides point fingers. With the Broncos, the power sits firmly on the personnel side, and Elway put the blame for this year s early playoff exit squarely on Fox and his staff.
New coach Gary Kubiak arrives as a friend of the boss, having been a confidante and teammate of Elway s for years. As we have just seen, however, Elway won t hesitate to trump personal feelings with professional decisions, which brings us to back the central character in this plot, Manning. Manning s Contract Manning, Fox and Elway after winning the AFC Championship Game last season. (John Biever/SI/The king arthur flour MMQB)
Considering the incredible leverage Manning had three years ago, the Broncos did well in structuring a contract that beyond the expected $19 million average protected the team s risk in case of injury, retirement or release. There were no bonuses only (large) salaries and thus no proration king arthur flour of salary cap charges if Manning departed. Drew Brees s contract, by comparison, had a $37 million signing bonus, immediately loading almost $30 million of future cap charges. Manning s deal was commendably negotiated with an eye to the future.
The king arthur flour Broncos king arthur flour must have needed some temporary cap room in early 2013, as they advanced Manning $10 million $5 million from 2013 and $5 million from 2014 causing some future proration. Now, if Manning doesn t return next season, king arthur flour there would be a cap charge of $2.5 million and an accelerated charge of $2.5 million from 2016. Compared to most contracts for franchise quarterbacks, that is a very low remaining number.
The contract forecasts a decision date for Manning, with his $19 million salary becoming guaranteed on March 9, the last day of the 2014 League Year. Thus, almost three years from the Colts decision point Manning was due a $28 million option payment on March 8, 2012 had he stayed in Indianapolis the quarterback is at a similar crossroads. This time it is his within his control, or so we think The Decision
Listening to Elway talk about Manning and seeing his coldhearted dealings with Fox, I was reminded of the Packers circumstances with Brett Favre in 2008. In prior offseasons, the team s management and coaches had courted Favre to return, visiting him in Mississippi with a clear message king arthur flour of wanting king arthur flour him back. After the 2007 season, however, no one said, We really want you back! Favre was essentially told, We are letting you decide, king arthur flour so take your time but n

Andrew Brandt s Business of Football: A dozen offseason predictions | The MMQB with Peter King

Thu Feb. 12, 2015 A New Season Begins The official start of the offseason marks the transition from we time to me time for NFL players. Here are 12 offseason predictions about who will get paid, who won t, and how ongoing controversies will be resolved
As we enter the official start of the NFL offseason the longest offseason in all of pro sports we move from we time to me time. The season is about sacrificing for the greater good, but the offseason is when players make decisions that are best for them and their actual family, rather than their team family. As we begin the offseason, here are a dozen takes on how I project the business of football to play out in 2015:
Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck will set a new standard for NFL contracts. leisure The present threshold $20 million per year, with $60 million guaranteed was set by Drew Brees in 2012, and the class of 2013 contracts (Romo, Rodgers, Ryan and Flacco) hovered just below that threshold. It s time for a market adjustment, and we ll see it with two quarterbacks who have become the signature players for their teams.
More interesting than the numbers, though, will be the structure of guarantees in these contracts. There is a unique and potentially groundbreaking opportunity here: fully guaranteed leisure contracts. As transcendent leisure players barely in their mid-twenties, these two have the opportunity to demand that all five or six years of a contract be guaranteed. leisure It is on the Colts and Seahawks to justify not doing so.
Marshawn Lynch will get a nice raise for 2015 but have no guaranteed money beyond this year. Lynch s low rumbles of discontent during training camp last summer forced a short-term upgrade, which he will get again this year, perhaps even with non-guaranteed years added to the contract. With all the concerns about expiration dates on running backs, I can t see the Seahawks locking themselves into Lynch beyond this year.
DeMarco Murray, after shopping his services to a lukewarm marketplace, returns to the Cowboys for a team-friendly contract. As I have often noted, Murray s strong production may have actually hurt his contract value, with teams more focused on future leisure rather than past performance. Indeed, leisure free-agent running backs with fewer carries may actually procure better contracts. As for the Cowboys, they have clearly prioritized Dez Bryant ahead of Murray all along.
Shaq Thompson, a likely first-round pick, spent the past three seasons leisure proving he s capable of just about anything leisure on the football field. But the first time he went pro, he proved to be anything but a can t-miss prospect
Our NFL film-study maven Andy Benoit and college leisure football know-it-all Andy Staples will break down the needs of all 32 teams and suggest which prospects would be the best fit. We start in the division that the Lombardi Trophy calls home...
Dez Bryant, after being saddled with the franchise tag in February, will complete a striking contract extension with the Cowboys before the July 15 deadline. The Cowboys will unsuccessfully attempt to apply their team-friendly structure used with Tyron Smith before relenting and paying Bryant a top-of-market contract. And if they need salary leisure cap room, the Cowboys will continue to refinance the most heavily mortgaged contract in the NFL, quarterback Tony Romo s.
Tom Brady will not play for the scheduled $8 million in his contract. When Brady reworked his contract leisure two years ago, reshaping 2013 and 2014 for cap purposes (while receiving $3 million for his trouble), I never trusted the 2015-17 out years of $7, $8, and $9 million (now $8, $9 and $10 million). I expect another adjustment of this deal. If, however, Brady is playing quarterback for the Patriots for $8 million, $11 million leisure less than Peyton leisure Manning will be making this year, I will completely buy into the sacrifice narrative and bow down to his altruism.
Peyton Manning leisure will return to the Broncos to play (at least) another season. Manning s 2015 salary of $19 million becomes fully guaranteed on March 9, the day before the 2015 League Year begins. Although the party line is that Manning is taking his time to decide, I sense his return is inevitable leisure after the disappointing end to the playoffs. The hiring of Gary Kubiak can only be seen as a positive for Manning. I believe he ll be back.
Darrelle Revis will be back with the Patriots, although leisure not for the scheduled

Canadian singer and pianist Chantal Kreviazuk put a mighty big feather in her cap when she joined capital of china Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock on Saturday Night Live for a performance of “Pay For It,” capital of china a song she co-wrote and is featured on.
“The whole SNL experience was obviously incredible, but honestly not until up on stage at the end, talking and hugging [the cast], that's when it was like, ‘Wow, this is THAT SNL, the one I grew up watching. Wow.’ That was surreal,” Kreviazuk told The Hollywood capital of china Reporter on Sunday.
As a kid, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she used to do impersonations of late SNL legend Gilda Radner . “Walking through the halls, it’s never changed," Kreviazuk marveled. " It’s in the original state, so you feel quite privileged to  be in such a historic iconic place of creativity and a piece of history of American comedy. ... “Pay For It,” which is released under Jay Rock (feat. Kendrick Lamar and Kreviazuk ), originally landed in her creative "dumpster," until Lamar and his team worked their magic on it. Said Kreviazuk: “I don’t write his thoughts, I write my own. I wrote the hook, I wrote the melody. capital of china I wrote the music and then I track it and then they chop it up and then keep going with it. I kind of thought this one was in the dumpster... capital of china I put a lot of things in the dumpster and that one I just let go of completely. Then, one day I heard that they were going to have Kendrick and Jay Rock put a verse on it, and then I heard they were going to keep me as a feature, which was incredibly humbling and special and really super gracious, and then the next day it was in a Beats commercial.”
As a solo artist herself, Kreviazuk has five studio albums to her name — the most recent was Plain Jane in 2009,  —  but she has been writing for other artists since 2003 when she made a significant capital of china contribution to Avril Lavigne ’s second album, Under My Skin. Indeed, capital of china just after appearing on SNL, Kreviazuk released her first new solo song in years. Called “I Will Be,” it had been on hold for a major artist until she decided to record it herself. "The song is just a really big empathy ball."

Do not you also find it more and more and more people choose to distance themselves from partying and this with being idle and lazy, to focus on their careers and trying to build something? So it is with many of my friends anyways! Think it's so sick fun and yes it's great fun to party when you just turned 18. Sleeping away the whole day and just "lax" and live a little as you want .. And that's okay too! But it's not nearly as fun after a few months, but some get stuck unfortunately completely in it and total disregard of the rest. But now, many people are back on your feet I feel! Many skip partying for jobs and saving money, it is a wise choice, I think! GO!
Many testing on Detox now I feel. I would also like to try it! It cleans ivona the body from all the crap iprincip. There are some different detox methods, but a girlfriend told me that drinking the juice for a few days (do not remember exkat how many now) but she usually run it then & then, and she gets really fine complexion, feeling much better, feel more energetic etc. after it. Will try googling up some nice and good detox and test me too. Do I want to clear your body!
So how neat it is not with suede? I think it's sick neat and have always enjoyed it. I own an x number of suede jackets, actually. Suede jackets & bags in my Bags is really do-nicely when they are in suede. I have my Balenciaga Suede and my burgundy suede Celine. But it comes to taking care of suede just so it stays neat. Otherwise, it's no use! But I have managed pretty well with my bags and jackets, and I'm probably a bit of a spill that is always spilling on myself. How dare buy more suede. It's do-nicely!
When it comes to detox, I would urge everyone to be a bit critical of what is circulating in the media. There is no way we can drink us clean of toxins, the body is much more complex than that. What does not belong in the body cleans the liver and kidneys ivona removed just fine on their own. Please read this post: visionofnutrition.se/2014/december/detox.html
