Can you imagine the Democratic spatula candidate at the time dressed as a cowboy duel challenge to the Republican candidate of the moment, his opponent in the presidential election? The scene is a little 'smile spatula and remember those cartoons that occasionally appear in the magazines to make fun of the President of the United States. Satire aside, in America there was a time in which the conflict of interests between Democrats and Republicans spatula often really solved with the gun in hand. The most famous example of this "political style" is known to history as "the challenge at the OK Corral." Hollywood has bequeathed to us the epic gunfight in sixteen films, the first of which was "My Darling Clementine" by John Ford in 1946, starring a masterly Henry Fonda. Henry Fonda's Wyatt Earp (1946) In more recent times the duel it was repeated in 1993 with "Tombstone" starring Kurt Russell, and in 1994 with "Wyatt Earp" starring Kevin Costner. None of these films, however, has never clearly stated that the famous show-down was due to the contrast between Democrats and Republicans spatula for control of the rich mining town of Tombstone. The Earp brothers were the champions of the Republicans who supported them with one of the two local dailies, "The Tombstone Epitaph." The Democrats, however, supported mainly by the many cowboys in the area, carried out their action in respect of Earp trouble making use of the "The Daily Nugget." But how things really went? Follow us ... To open a window on that event it is necessary to take a step back 115 years, back to a cold autumn afternoon on the plateau of Tombstone, in Southeast Arizona.
The air, in fact, that was crisp Wednesday, October 26, 1881 around 14.30 when four men armed to the teeth they walked briskly along Freemont Street, heading toward the back entrance of the OK Corral, the enclosure of the horses.
The group included the three Earp brothers and Doc Holliday. High between six feet and six feet, slender build, blue eyes, dark blond hair and drooping mustache, physically Virgil, Wyatt and Morgan Earp resembled very much. They were even dressed alike: black suit jacket with three-quarter length, vest, white shirt with bow and hat, also black, broad-brimmed. Doc Holliday Doc Holliday, whose stature equaled that of Earp, although he was visibly thin, wore a bowler hat that revealed her brown hair streaked with gray; his mustache and goatee accompanied by an aristocrat on the jacket he wore a long gray overcoat that reached to her knees. On the chest of Virgil Walter Earp, 38, shone the star of sheriff of the town of Tombstone. His brothers Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp, 33, and Morgan S. Earp, 30, had just been appointed his deputy pro tempore along with John Henry "Doc" Holliday, 30, to face the threat of five cowboys who roamed Armed to the city. The same people who at that time were just near the OK Corral. The dispute dates back to December 1879 when the Earp had moved to Tombstone with wives, friends and household goods. Among other things, there was a fourth brother, James, 40 years old, but he never made any involvement spatula in the affairs of his relatives.
